Introductory Drawing for the Serious Beginner

“November” (Charcoal on Paper) by Christine Belanger

Registration has closed for this class.

Tuesdays, 9 AM to 12 noon, from February 7 through March 14
Instructor: Christine Belanger
$100 Members, $135 Non-Members

The course consists of six weekly classes of 2 ½ to 3 hours each with the objective of introducing drawing at the most fundamental level.  The class will cover the basic techniques necessary to produce a solid drawing whether it is for its own sake or as the basis for a painting.  Subjects will be presented in a logical progression using simple still life set ups consisting of a maximum of 3 objects with emphasis on basic shape, relative proportion and value.  The purpose of the class is not to produce finished drawings but rather to perform a series of exercises relative to each technique.  Since the success of the class will require individualized attention, the class is limited to 12 students. The next logical step after completing this class is to attend “Essential Drawing Skills”  (see Weekly Classes below) to put these basic techniques into practice.
