Continuing Watercolor Classes for Advanced Beginners starts in March!

For the spring session, beginning in March, Peggy Call-Conley will be holding afternoon classes for watercolor.  

Watercolor for Beginners II, for the artists who completed Beginners I, will meet on Tuesday afternoons 1-3:30.

Classes will start on March 6. The session will run for seven consecutive weeks. Class sizes are limited to 10 participants.

Tuesdays, March 6, 13, 20, 27, April 3, 10, and 17, 1 to 3:30 pm
Fee: $125 Members, $160 Non-Members

Fees and Registration Forms must be at WAG at least one week before classes begin.
WAG offers make up classes only when the cancellation is the fault of WAG or in the case of inclement weather caused by hazardous driving conditions. If the Westport schools are closed due to bad weather, WAG is closed.  Courses fees cannot be pro rated for missed classes.

Essential Drawing Skills – Graphite Group

9 AM–12 PM

Focus on basic drawing elements of line, texture, shading, and composition. Learn a variety of techniques while exploring different media including leads, kneaded erasers, conté crayons, and colored pencils.

All skill levels are welcome. Fee: $15 per class, $40 for a 4-week month, $50 for a 5-week month. WAG Membership required. Contact to register.

Printmaking Lab

If you are a printmaker and would like to use our wonderful printing press for independent work, the studio is available to you by appointment, $10 a day. Bring your own inks and paper. Please use soy-based, water washable inks known by their brand name of Akua Inks.  These inks are kind to the environment, and are easily cleaned up with water, not solvents. Plexiglas plates are supplied along with brayers, rollers and other printmaking essentials. Lab Monitor: Mary Benefiel.

Thursday Morning Painting

Winter classes meet at the Westport Art Group building.

Throughout the summer, Thursday class meets at various locations in the area. This year, we returned to some of our great past locations, including many special private places we get invited to, and some new places. When the weather is bad, an announcement will be made on WAG’s Facebook page, and the class will be held at the WAG building.

Life Drawing Open Studio

PLEASE NOTE: No class will be held July 14 and August 18, due to Art Camp using the space.

Every week a live model, nude and clothed, will be available for members to sketch, draw or paint.  Each session is three hours in length; beginning with quick 3-minute sketches to longer 20-minute poses, ending with a one-hour study. For questions, contact Barbara Diane Barry at (201) 675-0256, or email
