Discover a painting process that reveals what limits you and what moves you forward, one brushstroke at a time.
Do you remember the freedom of painting as a child? It was simple: yummy paints, lots of imagination, and nothing was ever considered a mistake. This was how we told our stories before we could speak. Reconnect with that lost nonverbal language and take yourself past the limitations of words. Using play and improvisational techniques you will:
• Create imagery that's uniquely yours
• Find your visual voice and expand your expressive range
• Access imagery from the imagination
• Work in a visual journal format for continuity
• Discover what limits you and transform those blocks into concrete images, letting them go
Excellent for writers, poets, painters; anyone who seeks to nurture and unblock their creativity.
Taught by Barbara Diane Barry, artist, teacher, and author of “Painting Your Way Out of a Corner: the Art of Getting Unstuck”, Tarcher/Penguin. Tuition: $118.75.
To register : email Barbara at babarry49@gmail.com or call 201.675.0256. Supply list provided upon registration.

Collage Class
Little Stories and The Big Picture Collage on Canvas
with Instructor Eileen Riley
Collage by Eileen Riley.
4 Fridays: February 4, 11, 18 and 25
9 am - Noon
This is a collage class that centers on a main design or subject. The interesting part is that the focus is made up of smaller images or parts creating a larger picture. In making the collage in this way you can tell multiple stories or carry a theme throughout the piece.
You will also learn how to glue properly so that you don’t get wrinkles in the paper. You will learn how to fit the papers around corners and edges. It’s a patience game. You will learn how to set up a composition, do graph drawings and use that to make your collage.
You can find free images at: unsplash.com. All supplies are included but if you want to bring some of your own images, mailings, scraps of paper by all means, do so. Another suggestion the artist has is to go to a bookstore and look at their magazine section. You are sure to find some artsy magazines with creative pictures in them. Pick one up and bring it to class. There will be a little bit of homework also. A critique will be exercised on the last day of class.
4 sessions, $88. WAG members receive a 20% discount with discount code MEMBER at checkout. Max students:12.
