CALL FOR ARTISTS

Please register online by February 5th. Registration is below. Please scroll down.

Members of the Westport Art Group, let your brushes and lenses and hands tell a tale of portraiture that stretches across the canvas of our shared imagination. Paint the classic strokes of oil, capturing the timeless essence of human faces, or dive into the digital age where art redefines identity through innovative techniques. Let your work speak volumes of culture, emotion, and human stories, or let it roar with the essence of animals, blending their wild beauty with human elements to discuss conservation or the intrinsic connections between all life forms.

Craft your narratives through the depth of sculpture or the vibrant immediacy of digital art, letting your choice of medium resonate with the stories you wish to share. Your portraits could be silent storytellers, each mark a word in a tale of heritage, emotion, or the passage of time. Or perhaps, you'll reinterpret history, giving new life to old faces with contemporary insights, turning each piece into a conversation between past and present.

We welcome any portrait subject, approach or medium in this show including group, animal, figurative and symbolic, 3-D or abstracted portraits! Through these varied expressions, portraiture transcends mere depiction; it becomes a journey into the heart of identity, a dialogue with time, and a celebration of life in its myriad forms. Together, your works will weave a rich tapestry that honors the depth of human and animal spirit, inviting all who view it to see, feel, and understand the world anew.

Entry Guidelines:

  • This is a members only, non juried exhibit and features a “People‘s Choice Award” at the end of the show.

  • There is no size limitation and it is open to any media or style including 3-D. Each artist may submit up to 3 pieces for Gallery display, featuring portraiture. 2D Artworks must be framed or gallery wrapped if applicable, and ready to hang with a wire. Sawtooth hangers will not be accepted. Larger 3-D works should come with their own pedestals.

  • Bin Art: Member artists are invited to submit two additional pieces for the floor bins. The bin art for this show can be any subject matter. It is not limited to portraiture. However, Bin art can be no larger than 18”x24”, labeled with artist’s name, medium title and contact information on the back and wrapped in plastic or preferably acetate.

  • Entries must be your original work, not a reproduction, giclee or copy of another work. Only work that has not been previously shown at WAG will be accepted.

  • Your artwork should be submitted for sale (25% commission), just one artwork of the three can be “not for sale,” just be sure to specify the price- or NFS.

  • WAG reserves the discretion to not show a work, including, for example, a work that does not meet the above criteria.
