Spring/Summer 2021

Dear WAG Member,

We have spent the past year in lockdown due to the pandemic, but we’re now feeling very hopeful, not only for WAG as an organization, but for every one of us who has endured this past year.

Although our building was closed, we have had some interesting on-line shows, our First Tuesdays demo/talks and several zoom classes. Our Board of Directors has also been meeting via zoom. We’ve had some very productive meetings, including an update to our extremely outdated bylaws. You can see the newly revised bylaws on our website: WestportArtGroup.com. Also, check out and follow us on Facebook!

We’re very optimistic that we’ll be able to re-open the building in May! We will continue to follow all Federal, State and Local guidelines for health and safety during the re-opening process. Our Summer Youth Art Camp is accepting registrations, and we hope to have an in-person gallery show sometime in May. Plans are also going forward for a Community Summer Show later in the summer.

We’ve sent in a registration form for WAG to be on the South Coast Artists tour again this year. You can check our website for availability to be a presenting artist during the South Coast Artists tour weekends. We may still have availability during both the July and the August tour dates. Things are definitely looking up!

Again this year WAG awarded 2 scholarships for $1,500 each to graduating high school seniors who plan to study art in college. One of the scholarships is named the Clara M. Stewart scholarship for her welcome and generous contribution to WAG.

We hope you will renew your membership and consider making an additional donation in support of WAG classes, exhibits, and scholarships.

All memberships include these benefits:

  • Invitations to the Westport Art Group exhibitions, openings, and other events.

  • Eligibility to participate in members-only events including classes, exhibitions, demonstrations, open studios and workshops.

  • Online Profile, including posting links to your social media sites, images of your work, and biography.

  • We ask that you complete the enclosed membership form or renew online even if you are a life member, since that will help us verify that your contact information is accurate. It will also help us know if there are any areas in which you would like to volunteer to help with WAG activities.

Our Board position, Nominations Committee Chair is vacant. If you are interested, please contact me at sharonconnors333@gmail.com. We need your support! If you aren’t interested in a Board position, but would like to become more active in WAG, please let me know that as well. We see the future of WAG classes and exhibits as continuing to have an online component as well as in person, so we need volunteers with skills and interest. Could that person be you?

As a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, we rely on membership dues and donations from members and friends like you to support our many activities.

Thank you for past support, and we look forward to being together again in the coming months!

Stay safe, stay well,

Sharon Connors
